Greenville Country Club - Riverside Course

Address: 239 Byrd Blvd., Greenville, SC 29605

The Riverside Course, originally laid out on a topographical map by famed course designer Donald Ross in 1919 was later directed during on-site construction by golf architect William B. Langford. The course was finished in 1923 and opened on July 4. The original course was all on 158 acres above the Reedy River. Local architect, George Cobb, redesigned the course to incorporate land purchased "across the Reedy" which included seven new holes four decades later and the "new" Riverside opened on June 16, 1962. In 2006 the Club commissioned famed architect, Brian Silva to completely redesign the course in the Seth Raynor style and the course opened to rave reviews in the fall of 2007. In 2016, Riverside's greens were converted to Champions Ultra-Dwarf Bermuda, a surface ideal for the links-style strategy conducive to many of the holes.
